Eldrazi Tron is a big-mana ramp deck built around the Urzatron lands and the tribal creature type from the Zendikar storyline. As big mana goes it tends to slant a little towards midrange, eschewing some of the giant finishers of Gx Tron for sticky threats like Matter Reshaper and Reality Smasher. Disruption is sparse but heavy hitting, with Thought-Knot Seer, Chalice of the Void, and All Is Dust each packing a wallop. The deck also takes advantage of Eldrazi Temple for more mana ramp and the occasional busted opener.

The obvious ancestors of Eldrazi Tron are green-based Urzatron decks and the broken Eye of Ugin-fueled decks from Eldrazi Winter. Since the banning of Eye of Ugin, Eldrazi decks have splintered into a few core strategies, including Eldrazi Stompy, Bant Eldrazi, and Eldrazi and Taxes. At first these archetypes had a lot of overlap and were somewhat ill-defined, but by now they have sorted out into clear distinct archetypes. Out of all the Eldrazi-based decks, Eldrazi Tron goes the “biggest,” with a high end of Karn Liberated, All Is Dust, and giant Walking Ballistas that can rival even Gx Tron’s end-game.

Bant Eldrazi enjoyed a lot of success in the wake of the Eye banning, but Eldrazi Tron gradually surpassed it as the Eldrazi deck of choice. These days it is solidly Tier 1. As recent as this August we saw its power on full display when Dan Musser and Jeffrey White slugged it out in an all-Eldrazi Tron finals affair at the SCG Syracuse Open.
